Working on these first three projects has been a blast! I already had a general idea of how to use Google Docs and Slides, but a learned a lot more through the sharing process with my group members. The DID format for the lesson plan was new for me, but I loved how in depth it was and how it approached every aspect of the lesson plan. I used this lesson plan when creating my other projects which include a survey, document, and slides on Google Drive.
The survey project was the most new for me because I have never created an online survey, although I have participated in many. Google makes this an extremely quick and painless process, which I obviously loved. It should not come as a surprise that Google made an extremely user friendly software because I have used their Drive program for the past few years. There are endless possibilities with something as simple as this survey. A teacher can send interest surveys to students, give assessments to students, send study materials, etc. As a coach, I could use this as a way for students to fill out interest forms if I decided to go that route.
I have used Google Docs and Slides in the past for my personal classwork, "PowerPoints" for classrooms, presentations for classes, etc. The Google Docs has many features I have not discovered yet, but I was already very capable of using this software because I have had a Google Chromebook for the past 3 years. Only recently have I started using the Slides program for Google for my own classrooms. They have very modern themes to keep your slides looking interesting. Because it is Google, they allow you to search things right there and place them within your slides. Much like with the other programs, it comes down to this one being EXTREMELY user friendly. I may only think this because I have a lot of practice with Google software, but I doubt that's why.
The text states "given this recognized importance of productivity software in education, it becomes necessary for every educator to develop sufficient productivity software literacy". I believe Google makes it easier for everyday people to use their software and the learning curve is less of a hassle to get around. With everything in the same place (Drive) a teacher learns very quickly through practice how to use many of Google's programs.
